The Story
RF Grading and Excavation came from very humble beginnings when the Owner, Buddy Ruffeno, purchased a bulldozer to clear some land of his own. It didn't take long for neighbors and friends to find out of his purchase and began asking him to work on their projects. As this continued it led him to form the business of Ruffeno Farms, as most of the work was for customers in the agricultural industry.
Buddy had a son named Justin who had an extreme interest in the machines and work his father was doing and began running the equipment alongside his father after school and on the weekends at a very young age. With the extra help the Ruffeno Farms fleet began to grow to include an excavator and skid steer. Upon graduating from high school Justin went on to attend Sam Houston State University, where he received a degree in Agricultural Engineering and Technology with a minor in Construction Management. Upon graduating from SHSU, Justin left the family business for a few years where he worked in roles such as Foreman, Assistant Project Manager and Assistant Superintendent for several construction and mining companies across the United States. During this time, Justin gained valuable experience with differing construction methods found across the country and decided to return to the family business bringing with him the skills he learned.
Together, the father and son team wanted to continue growing the business and decided to rebrand the company to better reflect the services they were offering thus RF Grading & Excavation was born. Building on their combined experience, the father and son team have continued to provide exceptional work to their individual customers and complete larger commercial projects as well. Today their fleet includes 2 Bulldozer, an Excavator, Wheel loader, On and Off Highway dump trucks, and a skid steer. They have also established relationships with their Equipment providers to be able to acquire any other necessary machines to efficiently complete any project.

We work to find the best and most economical options to achieve your goals sometimes actually making less work for ourselves while still delivering a superior finished product. We are always looking for ways to save our customers money. When it comes to dirt moving projects, we utilize the latest in GPS technology to survey your jobsite and create our own "blueprints" in house. This allows you, the customer, to know exactly what the finished project will look like, and us to more accurately price the job knowing the exact quantities of material needing to be moved. We employ the same technology on our machines so we can reach target grades faster and with less labor resulting in cost savings for you. Being a family run company you will never have "a guy" or "a crew" working on your project, Buddy and/or Justin work on every project RF Grading & Excavation takes on to ensure you are completely satisfied with the work and that it is completed to our standards. We strive to have our projects stand the test of time and work with our customers even after the project is complete to share knowledge and offer guidance on things like revegetation and erosion control.
